ICYMI: Civil servants’ screening on IPPIS portal ends Friday – FG

The recent announcement by the Federal Government extends the deadline for federal civil servants to verify their identities on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System portal. A new circular signed by the IPPIS management states that an additional one-week period has been granted until Friday, August 23, 2024, for those who have not yet updated their information.

The circular confirms that the validation process for all submitted information has commenced. This directive was initially issued to combat salary fraud, requiring all employees registered on the system to update their details.

Previously, a deadline of July 31 was set, followed by a two-week extension until August 15. The need for identity verification arose after a case was reported where an individual living abroad continued to receive monthly pay despite leaving the country years ago.

In response to this, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that civil servants found drawing salaries after relocating abroad should refund the money. He also highlighted the need to hold supervisors and department heads accountable for any complicity in facilitating such fraudulent activities.

The circular, titled ‘Notification of closure of payroll validation portal’, outlines the extended deadline and warns that failure to comply before the specified date will result in suspension from the payroll.
