A recent ranking by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 has once again placed Covenant University at the top position. This ranking assesses universities globally based on various performance indicators, with Covenant University leading the way among Nigerian institutions.
The assessment considered 18 performance indicators in areas such as teaching, research environment, research quality, industry connections, and international outlook. Covenant University outperformed other Nigerian universities like the University of Ibadan, the Federal University of Technology Akure, and the University of Lagos, which secured the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
The global higher education landscape saw a significant shift as over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications were analyzed, along with responses from 68,000 scholars worldwide.
Other Nigerian universities that made it to the top ten include Bayero University, University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University. The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta also secured a spot in the top tier at the tenth position.
