The Ijaw Youths Network has strongly criticized the recent demands for the removal of the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro. The criticism comes after a protest at the National Assembly by members of the Niger Delta Liberators and Ex-Agitators Forum, calling for Otuaro’s suspension.
In a statement, the IYN denounced the protest as a staged attempt to distract Otuaro from his reform efforts within the programme. They urged President Bola Tinubu to disregard the allegations and false claims made by the protesters, whom they described as faceless groups spreading misinformation.
The IYN emphasized Otuaro’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and empowering youth, refuting allegations of nepotism and financial mismanagement. They reassured that all contracts were awarded following due process in compliance with procurement laws.
The group commended President Tinubu for his support of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the Niger Delta region. They urged Niger Deltans to ignore the allegations and expressed unwavering support for Otuaro’s leadership and his vision for sustainable peace and development in the region.
