Following a successful 12-month term of service to members, the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 bid farewell to their captain, Tade Adekunle.
Adekunle, recognized as one of the most accomplished captains in the section, received high praise from grateful members as he concluded his tenure.
Among his noteworthy achievements are the installation of wire mesh along the hole-1 fairway and golf range boundaries, as well as the upgrade of tee boxes to meet international standards, particularly on hole-1, now known as the signature hole, among others.
Expressing gratitude for the support during his leadership, the outgoing captain promised to continue working diligently for the section and the overall benefit of Ikoyi Club.
The Captain’s Day Golf Tournament, organized to celebrate Adekunle’s tenure, concluded with Elias Igbinakenzua emerging as the winner in a competitive event on Saturday.
In a tightly contested competition, Igbinakenzua secured victory with a net score of 70, edging out Kuna Ikiba on countback. Mark Yalaju clinched the third position with an equally impressive net score of 70, also determined by countback.
Peter Eben-Spiff claimed the top spot in the men’s gross category with a score of 78, triumphing over Joachim Afe in a countback decision.
Terry Otunya emerged victorious in the veteran category, followed closely by Felix Majekodunmi in the runner-up position.
