The Imo State House of Assembly has granted pardon and reinstated four of its suspended members. These members include representatives from different state constituencies. The decision to recall them followed a positive review of the report by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, led by a representative.
The committee’s report highlighted that the suspended lawmakers had shown remorse and requested forgiveness during their appearance before the committee. As a result, the committee recommended their reinstatement to rejoin their colleagues.
The Speaker of the House, after presenting the committee’s report, called for a vote which was moved and seconded by other representatives. The lawmakers praised the House leadership for choosing to be lenient rather than strict on the matter.
With a majority vote in favor of the committee’s recommendation, the Speaker lifted the suspension on the four lawmakers.
