Iran threatens to retaliate Israeli attack

In a recent statement, the top diplomat from Tehran in Damascus issued a warning of a potential heightened response to any acts of aggression, in light of Israel’s anticipated reaction to an Iranian missile strike. The Foreign Minister made it clear that Iran’s stance on retaliatory measures against the Zionist regime was firm and would match any actions taken against them, possibly escalating to a stronger response.

During his visit to Syria, the Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of ceasefires in both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. This visit, the first since assuming office in August, coincides with the anniversary of a conflict between Iran-backed Hamas and Israel that sparked violence in Gaza. Additionally, the situation has involved Iran’s ally, Hezbollah in Lebanon, prompting intensified actions from Israel against the militant group.

The main focus of discussions during the visit revolved around ceasefire initiatives in Lebanon and Gaza, with hopes for successful outcomes from ongoing consultations. The diplomat’s trip to Damascus followed a similar visit to Beirut, where support for a Hezbollah-approved ceasefire was expressed, along with a call for peace in Gaza.

Tensions between the nations have been evident, with Israel conducting airstrikes aimed at preventing arms flow to Hezbollah from Syria. Both Iran and Syria have maintained a strong alliance throughout the years, particularly evident during the civil war that began in 2011.

The recent missile attack on Israel by Iran was viewed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as a significant response, seen as a lesson to Israel. This incident occurred shortly after an Israeli airstrike in Beirut resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
