Preparations for evacuating Nigerian citizens from Lebanon have begun, with no reported loss of Nigerian lives since the conflict started. Efforts are being made to monitor and secure the welfare of Nigerians in the conflict zone.
The embassy had advised Nigerians in Lebanon to voluntarily evacuate as early as August 2024, with assistance from community leaders to relocate citizens from dangerous areas to safer regions like Beirut.
As the conflict intensifies following Iran’s missile attacks on Israel, Nigeria has increased its evacuation plans. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to their protection and safety, with preparations underway to bring them back home.
Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel in response to the killings of Iran-backed militant leaders, causing alarm in the region. The Israel Defence Forces intercepted the missiles launched by Iran, according to reports.
