IWD: Edo empowers young girls with agricultural skills

In honor of International Women’s Day, the Edo State Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals has introduced the “Plant, Nurture, Eat – Edo Girls’ Farm Project.” This initiative, headed by Sally Suleiman, focuses on providing young girls with hands-on agricultural skills and promoting values like patience, responsibility, and self-sufficiency. The project not only aims to enhance food security and environmental sustainability but also aligns with Governor Monday Okpehbolo’s SHINE Agenda, which emphasizes agriculture as a crucial element for economic growth. By involving young girls in practical farming activities, the program contributes to youth empowerment and supports various United Nations Sustainable Development Goals such as Zero Hunger, Quality Education, and Gender Equality. This project signifies the state’s dedication to sustainable farming methods and empowering the upcoming generation of female leaders in agribusiness. Through this initiative, Edo State strives to create a more food-secure future and equip young girls with the necessary skills to excel in the agricultural sector.
