The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has taken action against six CBT officials for their involvement in fraudulent activities during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration process. The officials have been banned for life from participating in any JAMB-conducted exams. Additionally, one university official is facing legal prosecution for admission-related offenses, while four others are under investigation and closely monitored.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, revealed these developments after inspecting various CBT centers in Ilorin, Kwara state. He emphasized that the board is dedicated to maintaining integrity and ensuring that all registration processes adhere to strict guidelines. Oloyede also reported that over 420,000 candidates have registered for the upcoming JAMB examinations, with a target of reaching two million candidates this year.
Furthermore, Oloyede expressed concern over the increasing number of underaged registrants, noting that nearly 5,000 candidates below the age of 16 have signed up for the exams. He criticized parents who push their children into early education for personal gain, urging them to prioritize their children’s genuine educational needs.
Despite these challenges, Oloyede commended the efforts of CBT centers, staff, and security agencies in ensuring a smooth registration process. He emphasized the importance of upholding standards and thanked all parties involved in maintaining the integrity of the examination system.
