The government of Jigawa State has allocated N4.8 billion for its upcoming Ramadan Feeding Programme in 2025 to assist vulnerable individuals during the sacred month. This decision was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, after a State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Dutse. The program will be funded jointly by the state and local governments, with the state providing 55% of the funds and the local governments covering the remaining 45%.
Musa revealed that the number of feeding centers has increased to 630 from 609 last year, with each center offering three meals per person. The meals will include kunu, kosai, and jollof rice, catering to 300 beneficiaries per center. Additionally, the council approved the revitalization of 114 ward-level Primary Health Care Centers across the state, valued at N9.7 billion. This initiative aims to improve healthcare services as part of the government’s commitment to Universal Health Care coverage.
The revitalization project is part of the government’s efforts to enhance the well-being of Jigawa residents, supported by the World Bank-backed Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services program.
