The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced ongoing restoration work on the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 1, while also confirming a forced outage on the Alaoji/Afam 132kV Line 2, affecting electricity supply in parts of Kaduna and Rivers states.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on the commission’s social media handle, the company said engineers and technical crews had been working round the clock to restore the Shiroro–Mando Line 1i.
According to Mbah, barring unforeseen circumstances, repairs on Line 1 are expected to be completed today, a development that will significantly improve bulk power supply to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.
She noted that the restoration would help ease the current power challenges being experienced in Kaduna and surrounding areas.
However, TCN explained that work on the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 has been delayed due to security concerns.
“The fault location is within a security-challenged area presently affected by banditry activities. Unfortunately, this has temporarily restricted access for our linesmen to safely carry out necessary repair works,” the statement said.
The company added that it is engaging relevant security agencies to secure the area and provide adequate protection for its personnel, assuring that repairs on Line 2 would commence immediately access is guaranteed.
TCN reiterated its commitment to grid stability, stating that the completion of repairs on Line 1 would substantially ease supply constraints and improve power delivery to Kaduna Electric.
In a separate notice, the company disclosed that the Alaoji/Afam 132kV Line 2 experienced a forced outage at about 4:52 a.m. on February 11, 2026.
TCN attributed the outage to technical faults, including a cut yellow phase down dropper conductor linked to the wave trap and CVT at the Alaoji end, as well as a conductor cut at Ihie Community in Abia State.
“TCN maintenance crew are currently working on the line to restore normal bulk electricity supply as quickly as possible,” Mbah stated.
As a result of the outage, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company is currently unable to off-take bulk electricity to supply customers in Inner Galaxy and its environs.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and appealed for patience from affected electricity consumers as efforts continue to restore normal supply.
