The recent approval by the Police Service Commission has designated CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State. The statement announcing Bakori’s appointment highlighted his succession of former CP Salman Garba Dogo, who has been promoted to the role of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Before his new role, Bakori served as the Commissioner of Police Homicide at the Force Investigation Department in Abuja. His diverse experience includes commanding roles in various locations such as Bayelsa State, Yenagoa, Abuja, and Rivers State, indicating a well-rounded background in law enforcement.
The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), has provided guidance to the newly appointed CP, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace, addressing crime effectively, and ensuring the security of businesses and freedom of movement in Kano State. Argungu urged Bakori to swiftly adapt to the challenges ahead and focus on revitalizing Kano through strategic crime mapping.
The Commission expressed its commitment to supporting Bakori’s success, with a formal approval sent to the Inspector General of Police for implementation. The oversight and assistance from the Commission aim to ensure the effectiveness of Bakori’s leadership in Kano State.
