Kebbi appeals for federal aid, as floods displace thousands

The government of Kebbi State is urgently seeking assistance from the Federal Government due to severe flooding that has impacted the state. The State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, emphasized the devastating effects of the floods during a press conference in Birnin Kebbi. The floods resulted in the loss of many lives, with 858,311 farmlands submerged and 329,092 households displaced.

Various local government areas within Kebbi State experienced casualties, with fatalities reported in Birnin Kebbi, Ngaski, Maiyama, Kalgo, and Jega. The Commissioner highlighted the urgent need for federal intervention to support the affected individuals.

The state has submitted a comprehensive report to Abuja for review and potential action. The Commissioner acknowledged the Federal Government’s commitment to assisting states affected by flooding nationwide.
