Kebbi dismisses substandard materials’ allegation in N7bn road project

The Kebbi State Government has vehemently denied allegations suggesting the use of substandard materials in the construction of the N7.23 billion Argungu Township Old Bypass Road project. The government labeled the claims as unfounded and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

In a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the government dismissed the allegations as baseless and orchestrated by anonymous individuals masquerading as activists. The government clarified that the project, spanning 6.4 kilometers and contracted to Amirco Engineering, strictly followed approved engineering standards. It refuted claims that culverts were constructed using blocks instead of reinforced concrete, stating that a thorough investigation would have revealed the accurate project details.

The statement highlighted various project components, including road rehabilitation, drainage systems, road infrastructure, roundabouts, road markings, and solar streetlights. The breakdown of costs for the project encompassed expenses for civil works, water relocation, and compensation, totaling N7.23 billion.

Emphasizing the government’s unwavering dedication to accountability, transparency, and quality, it reiterated that the accusations regarding the use of substandard materials were entirely false and misleading.
