Recently, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, named Christiana Idowu, was reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road.
According to a family source who preferred to remain anonymous, the abductors demanded a ransom of N3m for the release of the student.
Christiana was on her way from Itaoluwo area of Ikorodu to the University of Lagos in Yaba for her industrial training when she was taken by the kidnappers.
Despite the family paying N350,000 as per the abductors’ demands, they refused to release Christiana and even requested the bank statement of the transaction.
The family has involved the police in the matter and is seeking assistance from the government and the public.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Lagos, youths intervened to prevent the kidnapping of a car dealer in Ikorodu. The suspects involved in the attempted kidnapping were apprehended by the police, and an investigation is ongoing.
