Killings in Benue a war of attrition – Idoma group

The Idoma Association in the United States has expressed deep concern regarding the recent attack on the Egwuma community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Reports indicate that suspected armed herders carried out a violent assault on the community, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives, including two soldiers. The President of the association, Edwin Ochai, issued a statement condemning the attack and criticizing the lack of response from the Benue State government.

Ochai emphasized the need for unity among Idoma people, both locally and abroad, to defend their community against such attacks. He commended the Nigerian Army for their intervention but raised alarm over the silence of the state government and security agencies.

The association called on all Idoma individuals to come together to protect their land and heritage, stating that the ongoing attacks pose a significant threat to the Idoma ethnic group. They urged community members to take decisive action to end the violence in Agatu and other affected areas.
