The Police Commissioner of Kogi State, Miller Dantawaye, has instructed strict compliance with the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s directive on enforcing mandatory third-party insurance for all vehicles in the state. This enforcement officially began on February 1, 2025.
In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP William Aya, it was emphasized that officers should maintain professionalism and adhere strictly to standard procedures during the enforcement. The aim of this enforcement is to improve road safety and ensure that all vehicle owners adhere to insurance regulations that safeguard motorists and other road users.
The Commissioner urged the residents of Kogi State to cooperate with the Police officers enforcing these regulations, warning that failure to comply would lead to legal consequences. He also advised all vehicle owners and road users in the state to obtain valid Third-Party Insurance to avoid any disruptions during enforcement.
Furthermore, all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers have been directed to fully implement this directive while upholding professionalism and following standard procedures.
