In Kogi State, the Governor recently provided 8,000 youths and women with N100,000 Livelihood Support Grants to boost their businesses. The cash grants were distributed across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state. This initiative, aimed at promoting economic empowerment, was launched at the Government House in Lokoja.
The Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, highlighted that the empowerment program was a collaborative effort with the World Bank under the Kogi State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus. The grants, facilitated through the state Grant Transfer Delivery platform, are intended to support vulnerable individuals and households.
The Governor emphasized the value of the grants in improving the lives of beneficiaries, enabling them to address basic needs, invest in education and healthcare, and contribute to the state’s economic growth. The program is expected to bring positive changes such as increased school enrollment, improved health conditions, reduced child labor, and empowerment of women and small-scale businesses.
Beneficiaries were urged to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their quality of life and that of their families. The government called for collective efforts to eradicate poverty and ensure a future where all citizens can live with dignity and hope.
The State Coordinator of the Kogi State Social Investment Program Agency highlighted the inclusivity of the empowerment program across all local government areas.
