The government of Kogi State is urging its citizens to play an active role in safeguarding public infrastructure within their communities to uphold the state’s ongoing progress and development.
During a recent address in Lokoja, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, emphasized the importance of citizens taking responsibility for protecting public assets, stating that it is the people who are the true owners of these infrastructures.
Fanwo acknowledged the substantial advancements made under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Ododo, noting that the current administration is building upon past achievements and introducing new avenues for development.
Various sectors such as transportation, education, commerce, and water supply have seen significant improvements, indicating a positive transformation across Kogi State.
Particularly praising the advancements in the water infrastructure of major cities, Fanwo credited the State Ministry of Water Resources for their dedicated efforts. However, he stressed that sustaining these improvements requires the collective effort of citizens in protecting and maintaining the infrastructure in their localities.
The commissioner also highlighted the government’s focus on rural development through extensive projects managed by the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency.
One of the key initiatives includes the upgrade of more than 150 primary healthcare centers to offer secondary healthcare services in rural areas, with investments amounting to billions of naira that need to be safeguarded for the benefit of all.
Citizens are encouraged to report any incidents of vandalism to the Ministry of Information and Communications, which will forward such cases to the State Security Adviser’s office for further action.
To report issues, individuals can contact 07073167729 with the assurance that their identity will be kept confidential.
This appeal underscores the shared responsibility of all citizens in ensuring the continuous development of Kogi State. By protecting public infrastructure, individuals contribute to the sustained progress that benefits the entire community and paves the way for a promising future for the state.
