The leader of Kogi State has introduced the Ododo Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme as part of efforts to empower young individuals. This initiative aims to provide training in areas like CNG conversion, welding, automobile mechatronics, and solar system installation to 250 youths selected from all local government councils in the state. The program will kick off after finalizing details with the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute.
The primary goal of the Ododo Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme is to enhance the state’s human resources and equip young people with the necessary skills for success in today’s economy, particularly as Nigeria moves towards cleaner energy. Participants will receive stipends, accommodation, starter packs, and assistance with business registration to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
In addition to the new program, the governor also highlighted the appointment of 717 Ward Special Assistants by the state government. This move is part of the administration’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and ensuring that governance is more connected to the grassroots. The Ward Special Assistants will live and work in their respective wards, serving as direct liaisons between the government and the people. This approach not only promotes accountability and feedback but also enhances financial efficiency by consolidating the salaries of three WSAs to that of one Senior Special Assistant, thereby reducing governance costs. Through these initiatives, the government aims to empower rural communities, promote local development, and ensure that grassroots aspirations are integrated into the state’s agenda for continuity and consolidation.
