During the monthly sanitation in Kwara State, a significant number of individuals, approximately 300, were arrested and faced legal action for not complying with sanitation laws. The operation, conducted in Ilorin, the state capital, resulted in these arrests. Despite this, the state government praised the overall success of the sanitation efforts in different areas.
The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa-Buge, expressed satisfaction with the increased compliance level among residents, particularly in urban areas. She urged everyone to maintain this positive trend. However, she also voiced disappointment over the fact that despite extensive awareness campaigns, a considerable number of people still violated sanitation regulations.
The commissioner emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the designated three-hour sanitation period to ensure cleanliness and safety in residential and commercial areas. Musa-Buge thanked the mobile court judges, monitoring teams, security personnel, transport unions, and other relevant groups for their dedicated efforts during the operation.
