Kwara First Lady welcomes three New Year babies

The Kwara State’s First Lady, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, celebrated the arrival of three newborns on the first day of 2025 at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital in Ilorin. The state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mrs Opeyemi Afolashade, represented the First Lady during the visit to share in the joy of the new parents and show support for safe deliveries.

Ambassador Abdulrazaq, who leads the Nigerian Governors Spouses Forum, emphasized the government’s dedication to the well-being of the newborns and their families under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration.

The annual tradition of welcoming the first babies of the year is a significant event for the First Lady, as each newborn holds special importance, especially in a new year. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina El-Imam, highlighted the state’s commitment to healthcare improvement and Governor Abdulrazaq’s dedication to the welfare of the people.

Parents of the newborns expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her kindness, with gifts presented to the new babies during the visit. The state Commissioners of Women Affairs and Health toured the ward where the newborns were located, led by the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Council at KWASUTH, Dr Idowu Ogunlaja.
