Lagos honours 361 workers for dedication to service

In a ceremony at Alausa, Ikeja, the Lagos State Government recognized 361 public servants for their long service, having dedicated 30 years or more to the state. The awardees, consisting of 128 men and 233 women, were praised for their commitment and contributions.

During the event, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, commended the awardees for their role in advancing inclusive development. He emphasized the state’s core principles of equity, participation, accessibility, empowerment, social cohesion, and sustainability in driving economic and social progress.

Agoro highlighted the diverse contributions of the honored public servants across sectors like education, infrastructure, social protection, gender equality, healthcare, technology, job creation, and environmental sustainability, all aligning with the state’s inclusive development strategies.

Recognizing the dedication and resilience of the awardees, Agoro expressed the government’s appreciation for their service and encouraged them to maintain their high standards of responsibility and commitment.

He also urged other public servants to follow the example set by the awardees, emphasizing the vital role of civil servants in societal growth and development.

Agoro underscored the state’s commitment to supporting public servants in achieving their objectives, with a focus on staff welfare and skill enhancement through embracing new technologies.

The day’s lecture, themed “Breaking Barriers: Public Service Strategies for Inclusive Development,” emphasized the responsibility of public servants as custodians of public trust, delivering quality services to all citizens without bias.

Agoro reiterated the government’s dedication to inclusive development, highlighting the revised developmental agenda, “THEMES Plus,” which prioritizes social inclusion, gender equality, and youth development to create a society where everyone can thrive.
