Medical lecturers at a university in Ogbomoso have initiated an indefinite strike due to unpaid salaries under the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the university’s Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association, the strike follows the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum given to the authorities to fully implement the salary structure.
The lecturers expressed concern over the non-compliance with the payment structure by universities in the South-West region, which they believe is leading to brain drain and setbacks in medical education.
They have urged relevant stakeholders to intervene promptly, emphasizing that ignoring their demands could further disrupt medical education in the nation.
