The Director of the Centre for Bioethics and Research in Ibadan, Oyo State, emphasized the importance of ethical principles in addressing governance challenges in Nigeria. During a training session on responsible research conduct, he stressed the significance of values like fairness, integrity, and accountability in building a strong nation. He urged leaders to adhere to these principles for the country’s advancement.
Additionally, the Head of Department of Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Ibadan highlighted the pivotal role of ethics in societal progress. He emphasized that ethical behavior, especially among political leaders, is crucial for the nation’s success.
Both experts advocated for the inclusion of ethics education from primary school to university levels to instill the right values from an early age. They emphasized the need for researchers to uphold integrity and responsibility in their work to maintain credibility and benefit society.
The training program aimed to equip participants with ethical research practices aligned with international standards. It focused on promoting ethical conduct and integrity among researchers for the greater good.
