Learn from me, Esin tells Osimhen

A former Nigerian footballer, Etim Esin, has shared insights on the delay in the transfer of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The delay is believed to be linked to off-field issues, particularly Osimhen’s public disagreement with former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

Osimhen’s transfer has been a topic of discussion even before the summer transfer window opened. With just 10 days remaining in the window, Napoli is still searching for suitable offers for the player, valued at €130m.

Several top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG have been rumored to be interested in Osimhen, but so far, no concrete offers have materialized, with Chelsea appearing as the most likely option.

In an interview with Elegbete TV, Esin, a highly respected Nigerian player, expressed his opinion that Osimhen’s transfer process should not be taking this long, given his status as the reigning African Footballer of The Year.

Esin highlighted the importance of discipline in a player’s career, pointing out his own experiences. He advised Osimhen to focus on his career and consider giving back to his community by establishing an academy or providing scholarships to those in need.

Osimhen, signed by Napoli from Lille in 2020 for around €75m, has proven himself as a top striker in world football. His outstanding performance in the 2022/23 season helped Napoli win the Serie A title after 33 years, making him the league’s top scorer and earning him the APOTY award in December 2023.
