LG polls: Nasarawa APC unveils chairman, councillorship candidates

The political party in Nasarawa State has released the names of its chosen candidates for the upcoming local government elections happening on November 2, 2024, across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman of the State’s APC Primary Elections Committee, Tanimu Adamson, revealed this information after presenting the results of the screening exercises to the party’s executives in Lafia, the state capital. The candidates were selected through a consensus decision in accordance with the party’s constitution.

Adamson emphasized the party’s commitment to conducting peaceful and transparent primary elections following the expiration of the local government chairmen’s tenure. The chosen candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 13 local government areas were named to enhance democracy and the delivery of public benefits.

The successful candidates for chairmanship positions include Safiyanu Isa, Umar Dan-Akano, Jonathan Addra, Abubakar Madaki, Adamu Aboki, and Idris Damagani, among others. These candidates underwent screening processes to ensure they met the party’s requirements.

Adamson also highlighted the inclusion of female and disabled candidates for councillorship positions across the state’s 147 electoral wards. He appreciated the State Governor and party stakeholders for their support during the selection process.

The APC Chairman in the state, Dr. Aliyu Bello, commended the committee members for their dedication to the party’s growth and timely completion of their tasks. He assured that the party would submit the list of successful candidates to the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission within the set deadline.

Bello expressed optimism in the party’s success in the upcoming council elections and encouraged other political parties to participate to strengthen democracy.
