Man flees after stabbing cousin to death in Lagos

A tragic incident unfolded in Lagos as a heated argument between two relatives turned deadly when one fatally stabbed the other during a physical altercation.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident through a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, mentioning that the suspect was currently on the run.

According to reports, a woman informed the police that her son and nephew, Ganiyu Ibrahim and Afeez Akeem, were involved in a dispute that escalated into a violent confrontation.

The altercation took a fatal turn at 7 a.m. when Ganiyu allegedly used a broken bottle to stab his cousin, Afeez, in the chest. Afeez was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

The family opted not to conduct an autopsy and proceeded to bury Afeez in accordance with Islamic customs.

The suspect remains at large, prompting an ongoing investigation by the authorities to bring him to justice.

In a separate incident in October, a 25-year-old individual was detained for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death in Lagos, as confirmed by Hundeyin to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The tragic event occurred late in the evening in the Isolo area of Lagos, with the suspect’s brother reporting the incident to the Aswani Police Divisional Station.
