Man nabbed for defiling 15-year-old girl in Ekiti

Police in Ekiti State have apprehended two individuals suspected of abduction, defilement, and phone theft. The arrests were made in separate locations within the state capital, Ado Ekiti. One of the suspects, Ayomide Jinaidu, admitted to abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. He confessed that he lured the victim into his residence while she was on her way to school and subjected her to five days of harassment.

In light of the increasing cases of rape, sexual assault, and gender-based violence in the state, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, urged parents and guardians to caution their children about their whereabouts, interactions, and relationships. Abutu emphasized the importance of victims speaking out promptly to facilitate swift police intervention.

In a separate incident, another suspect, identified as Miracle Peter, was arrested at Fayose Market while attempting to sell three stolen phones. Peter, a habitual phone thief, confessed to stealing the phones from different individuals in Ifaki-Ekiti. One of the phone owners was able to reclaim their device, while efforts are underway to identify the remaining owners.
