A lecturer at Foreign Links College of Health Technology in Moro, Osun State, has embarked on a 150-hour marathon lecture to set a new world record for the longest lecture. Dr. Nsikak Akpan has successfully reached the 100-hour mark.
Prior to the event, Akpan mentioned that his application to Guinness World Records for the marathon lecture was approved during an interview with journalists on the college campus.
The current record for the longest marathon lecture is held by an Indian professor, Arvin Mishra, who spoke for 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds in 2014.
Focusing on mental health in his lecture, Akpan hit the 100-hour milestone around 12:30 pm on Friday.
In his lecture, Akpan emphasized that mental health is influenced by various factors, including environmental and spiritual well-being. He highlighted the impact of work environments on individuals’ mental health.
Each lecture session lasts for four hours before Akpan takes a break and resumes after 20 minutes.
