Max Air confirms Kano incident, NCAA orders runway inspection

The airline Max Air recently confirmed a serious incident involving one of its aircraft at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. The incident occurred when the aircraft, carrying 53 passengers, experienced a tyre burst while landing. Fortunately, all passengers and crew were safely disembarked without any injuries. The incident occurred late at night, and the runway was temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, causing potential delays in flight operations. The airline praised its crew for handling the situation professionally. Additionally, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority ordered a thorough inspection of the airport runway following the incident. This is not the first incident involving a Max Air aircraft, as a similar emergency landing occurred in Maiduguri in December 2024, with all passengers, including the state Deputy Governor, escaping unharmed.
