The Defense Headquarters has started the construction of the Invictus Center for the Armed Forces of Nigeria. This facility aims to provide advanced medical and psychological care for military personnel who have been wounded, injured, or fallen ill.
During the groundbreaking ceremony in Abuja, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, highlighted the importance of the project in ensuring the well-being of military personnel who have endured physical and psychological injuries while serving their duties.
Recognizing the demanding nature of the military profession, General Musa stressed the need for societies to acknowledge and support the sacrifices made by military personnel. The Invictus Center will offer innovative rehabilitation programs developed by experts in military medicine and psychology.
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, praised the project as a pioneering initiative in Africa. He emphasized its role in aiding the rehabilitation and psychological recovery of military personnel, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation’s security.
Aligned with the President’s renewed hope agenda, the center will provide a space for recovery, reintegration, and growth through health and wellness programs, as well as social activities such as sports.
Represented by David Wiseman, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and founder of the Invictus Games, commended the establishment of the Invictus Center. He expressed optimism that future generations of participants in the Invictus Games will find support, hope, and joy as they pass through the Armed Forces of Nigeria Invictus Centre.
