Troops from Sector 2, in conjunction with the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully rescued 101 kidnapped individuals during separate operations in Katsina and Zamfara states. Additionally, 10 terrorists were eliminated in a confrontation in the Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
According to a statement released by Lt Col Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the operations took place on March 17 and 18. In Katsina State, the troops launched an attack on a terrorist hideout in Pauwa High Ground in Kankara Local Government Area. This led to the neutralization of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped victims who were later handed over to local authorities for care.
In Zamfara, a successful raid in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District resulted in the elimination of seven terrorists, the recovery of a motorcycle, and the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi Local Government Area. The rescued victims received immediate medical attention at a local hospital.
Operation Fansan Yamma reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of communities in Katsina and Zamfara states, urging residents to stay vigilant and collaborate with security forces as community support is crucial in combating terrorism in the region.
