The Nigeria Labour Congress, Federal Capital Territory Council, has instructed workers in the six area councils of the FCT to commence an indefinite strike starting from December 1, 2024. The directive, signed by the Chairman of the FCT Council of the NLC, addresses the non-implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage. Despite a communique issued to the Council Chairmen on November 14, 2024, there has been no response regarding the wage implementation. The Chairman expressed disappointment in the failure to address workers’ welfare and entitlements, leading to the decision to embark on the strike until further notice.
