A woman named Omowunmi, who is the widow of Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has raised concerns about the refusal of her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, to undergo a DNA test to settle the paternity dispute regarding her child with Mohbad.
In July 9, 2024, the Magistrates Court in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State suggested an Alternative Dispute Resolution for both parties, but the closed-door negotiations did not lead to an agreement.
Mohbad’s father initiated the lawsuit seeking a DNA test for his grandchild.
In October 2024, a spokesperson for the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, mentioned that Omowunmi had agreed to undergo the DNA test as requested.
Odumosu explained that this agreement led to the drafting of settlement terms by both sides.
Subsequently, the court ordered the DNA test to be conducted at a mutually agreed-upon facility within Nigeria, with appointed officers overseeing the process for reliability.
In a letter dated January 9, 2025, from Salawu Akingbolu Chambers, Omowunmi’s legal representatives, it was revealed that she rejected Mohbad’s father’s preferred UCH Ibadan and her choice of Lagoon Hospitals, suggesting Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospitals instead for transparency, which was not acknowledged by Mohbad’s father.
Omowunmi expressed dissatisfaction with Mohbad’s father’s legal team for accusing her of delaying the DNA test on social media.
She also condemned Mohbad’s father for defaming her child online.
Omowunmi warned that if Mohbad’s father continued to delay the process, she would proceed with the DNA test independently.
In response to these allegations, Mohbad’s father, represented by Hillceetee Partners, denied the accusations and clarified that there was no statement made about Omowunmi’s readiness for the DNA test in any media interview.
Hillceetee Partners announced that they would no longer represent Mohbad’s father in this case.
