The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has suggested imposing the death penalty on drug peddlers. The Director-General of the agency, Mojisola Adeyeye, emphasized the need for severe punishments to deter drug peddlers, especially those whose actions lead to fatalities, particularly among children. Adeyeye highlighted a concerning incident involving the sale of counterfeit children’s medicine. She stressed the importance of collaboration between the agency, the judiciary, and the National Assembly to enforce stricter penalties for offenders. Adeyeye emphasized the significance of robust laws and firm judicial actions to combat the distribution of substandard and falsified medicines effectively.
