NAFDAC lacks right to regulate spiritual products – Delta clerics

A group of supporters of a religious figure from Delta, referred to as a cleric, organized a protest march to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. The protesters, which included bishops, were carrying placards and demanded that NAFDAC stop what they perceived as an attack on the cleric. NAFDAC had issued a statement advising against the use of spiritual products like miracle water and oil promoted by the cleric, as he allegedly claimed they were certified by NAFDAC. The protesters argued that NAFDAC should not have authority over spiritual products and expressed their stance through various messages on their placards.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Charismatic Anglican Church of Nigeria and the Rector of Union Theological Institute and Seminary in Port Harcourt were among those who spoke on behalf of the protesters. They emphasized that NAFDAC should not interfere with spiritual matters and questioned NAFDAC’s ability to label the products as fake without proper testing. The protesters stood firm in their belief that spiritual products should not be subject to regulation by NAFDAC, asserting that there are boundaries when it comes to matters of faith.
