A 14-day ultimatum has been issued by the National Association of Nigerian Students, Zone E, to the Federal Government to ensure contractors are mobilized to the sites of four ongoing major road projects in the northeast region.
The press release, issued by the Zone E Coordinator, Umar Afkawa, emphasized that contractors must resume work immediately at the project sites to avoid mass protests against the FG.
The ultimatum, which commenced on Thursday, targets road projects such as Numan-Gombe, Numan-Jalingo, Damaturu-Buni Yafi, and Biu-Garkida roads.
Afkawa urged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to provide a clear timeline for project completion and urged the Federal Government to address all obstacles hindering project progress.
Failure to meet the demands within the specified 14 days will result in mass protests in Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba, and Borno states, as declared by the student union leadership.
The association plans to mobilize students and community members to demand action and engage with relevant stakeholders to address concerns.
The prolonged delay in project completion has caused significant hardships to students, commuters, and residents, despite previous promises by the federal government.
