Nasarawa assembly cuts 2025 budget to N384.3bn

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly recently revised the 2025 Appropriation Bill from N402.5 billion to N384.3 billion. The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, made this announcement during an emergency session in Lafia. He explained that the reduction was necessary to align the budget with the state’s expected revenue for the year. The revised budget was passed unanimously by the House.

The new budget allocates N160,667,777,898.56 for recurrent expenditure and N223,650,065,693.47 for capital expenditure. The Speaker commended the members for their dedication to addressing state matters promptly and urged them to continue with the same commitment.

Various contributors supported the need for the budget to pass, emphasizing its significance for the state’s socio-economic development. The bill was moved for a third reading by the Majority Leader and seconded by the Minority Leader before being unanimously passed into law.

Governor Abdullahi Sule had initially presented a budget of N382.5 billion titled the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability” before the revision to N384.3 billion. The Clerk of the House was directed to prepare the final bill for the Governor’s assent.
