The Governor of Nasarawa State has introduced a Supplementary Appropriation Bill totaling N156.6 billion for the 2024 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration. The Speaker of the House disclosed this development during the House proceedings in Lafia. The bill aims to facilitate the provision of essential services to the people of the state.
During the session, the Majority Leader of the House moved the motion for the bill’s first reading, which was supported by the Deputy Minority Leader. The Governor’s communication highlighted the need for a supplementary budget to accommodate new policies and projects in line with the state’s infrastructural development plans.
The proposed Supplementary Appropriation Bill seeks to adjust the budgetary provisions to address emerging demands and challenges resulting from changes in the country’s economic landscape. The bill amends the earlier approved budget from N199.8 billion to N356.6 billion for the services of Nasarawa State Government for the fiscal year 2024. This move follows the Governor’s initial presentation of the 2024 Appropriation Bill in December 2023.
