Upon the resumption of the National Assembly from its annual recess, the Senate Leader mentioned that both chambers are anticipating the presentation of the 2025 budget and the new Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper by the President. The MTEF is crucial as it sets the stage for the budget, which cannot be presented without it.

The Senate and House of Representatives had been on recess since July 17 and are set to resume today. The Senate Leader also highlighted the ongoing Constitution review process, emphasizing the importance of this exercise in shaping public governance.

Additionally, a joint committee will be established to investigate alleged oil theft in the petroleum industry. The National Assembly aims to address issues affecting the industry and enhance its efficiency.

As legislative activities resume, key issues such as the 2025 appropriation bill, constitution review, and electoral reforms will be the focus. The House is committed to maintaining the January-December budget cycle and addressing pressing national challenges.

Efforts to amend the 1999 Constitution are also a priority, with the aim of aligning laws with public needs. The House Committee on Constitution Review will intensify its work based on significant public engagement and input received.

In summary, the National Assembly is geared towards addressing critical issues, ensuring good governance, and meeting the needs of the Nigerian populace as legislative activities resume.
