NDLEA arrests auto parts dealer, bizwoman over UK-bound cocaine

A businesswoman and an auto parts dealer were apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for attempting to smuggle opioids and cocaine to the UK and Congo Brazzaville, respectively. The agency’s officers intercepted consignments containing codeine-based syrup and Rohypnol tablets hidden in food cartons destined for London. The suspects involved in the operation, including the freight agent and the sender’s mother, were arrested.

In a separate incident, NDLEA operatives at the Lagos airport intercepted cocaine concealed in auto spare parts and custard containers bound for Congo Brazzaville. The sender of the shipment, an auto parts dealer, was apprehended. Additionally, two brothers were arrested for sponsoring drug traffickers who ingested drugs for export to Vietnam.

Further operations in Gombe, Kaduna, Ekiti, and Bauchi states resulted in the seizure of large quantities of Tramadol, cannabis, and Diazepam pills from different suspects. Notably, a significant amount of codeine-based syrup was discovered in containers shipped from India at the Tincan port in Lagos.

The NDLEA continues to crack down on drug trafficking activities across various states, working diligently to intercept illegal substances and apprehend those involved in the illicit trade.
