A dealer of automobile spare parts in Lagos was recently apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for trying to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine hidden inside vehicle propellers to Angola. The suspect, Levi Ubodoeze, was tracked down to his residence in Lagos after the seizure of the cocaine at a logistics company in Aspanda, Trade Fair Complex. Ubodoeze was caught attempting to escape in a KIA Sport Utility Vehicle. Further search led to the discovery of a significant amount of phenacetin, a substance used in cutting cocaine, along with a digital scale for weighing illicit drugs.
In a separate incident, two suspects were arrested in Lagos for transporting 128 kilograms of cannabis hidden in a commercial truck. Additionally, three suspects were apprehended in Mushin with a large quantity of tramadol and other opioids. The NDLEA also made arrests in Kano, where individuals were found in possession of skunk and codeine-based syrup.
In Abia State, a raid on a residence and warehouse led to the recovery of tramadol pills, opioids, and codeine syrup. Similar operations resulted in arrests in Osun, Benue, and Edo states. Notably, suspects in Benue were intercepted with tramadol and Exol-5 pills, while skunk was seized in Osun and Edo states. The agency also dismantled a cannabis farm in Edo State and confiscated cannabis-infused candies from a children’s store in Lagos.
The NDLEA’s efforts have been extensive, leading to multiple arrests and seizures across various states, demonstrating a commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.
