In October, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano confiscated a total of 709.979kg of illegal substances, as reported by the agency’s Kano Command spokesperson, ASN Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari. The State Commander, Mr Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, mentioned that 129 male suspects were apprehended during the operation.
The seized illicit substances included 309.991kg of cannabis sativa, 394.835kg of various psychotropic substances such as 741,600 tablets of Tramadol, 2.789kg of pregabalin, and 0.027kg of methamphetamine. Additionally, 22 convictions were secured during this period, serving as a deterrent to those involved in drug-related activities.
Idris-Ahmad highlighted the agency’s commitment to enforcing the law and providing support and rehabilitation for those in need. He credited the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig.-Gen, Mohammed Marwa (Rtd), for his support. The commander also acknowledged the collaboration of the Kano State Government and other stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.
Encouraging the public to participate in combating drug abuse, Idris-Ahmad urged individuals to report any relevant information to the agency through dedicated hotlines. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in creating a healthier and safer society.
