The Anambra State Police Command welcomed CP Ikioye Orutugu as its 35th Commissioner of Police. He took over from the previous commissioner who was redeployed to the force headquarters. CP Orutugu immediately visited the scene where three siblings were tragically murdered and placed inside a refrigerator in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area. The incident occurred while the parents were away. The new CP assured the public of the police command’s commitment to thoroughly investigate the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
During his visit, CP Orutugu met with the victims’ parents, toured the crime scene, and expressed condolences to the family. He emphasized the police’s determination to address such heinous crimes and ensure public safety. The Commissioner highlighted the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, the community, and other stakeholders in maintaining security. He also acknowledged the media’s role in informing the public transparently and professionally.
CP Orutugu, a seasoned officer, has a background in various police roles across different states. He holds a wealth of experience and academic qualifications in Political Science, Public Administration, and Sociology of Education. The Commissioner urged residents to uphold the law, stay vigilant, and support the police in combating criminal activities. His focus is on enhancing crime prevention strategies and fostering a secure environment for the people of Anambra State.
