NIA DG seeks sustainable insurance literacy efforts

The head of the Nigerian Insurers Association, emphasized the importance of promoting insurance awareness among Nigerians. This call was made during a visit by the executive members of the Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors to the NIA headquarters in Lagos.

In her address, she highlighted the need for continuous engagement to dispel the prevalent lack of knowledge about insurance in the country. She stressed the role of the media in shaping the industry’s image and acknowledged the vital partnership between the sector and the press.

Regarding the ongoing efforts to promote third-party motor insurance nationwide, she reiterated the long-term commitment to raising awareness about insurance in general. The focus on third-party insurance serves as a gateway to introducing the concept of insurance to the public.

The Nigerian Insurers Association serves as the central body for insurance and reinsurance companies in the country. Established in 1971, it provides a platform for members to collaborate and collectively engage with the government and other stakeholders on insurance-related issues.
