Nigeria @64: We must reform or collapse — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu emphasized the need for Nigeria to choose between reform for progress and prosperity or risk collapse by continuing with business as usual. He highlighted the critical juncture the country was facing and the reforms his administration had implemented in the political economy and defence architecture. Tinubu urged Nigerians to learn from past mistakes and not let them hinder the country’s future development.

In a national broadcast on Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, Tinubu addressed various issues, including economic challenges and security concerns. He stressed the importance of correcting fiscal misalignments to secure a better future for the nation. Tinubu outlined the government’s efforts in attracting foreign direct investments, reducing debt, and stimulating economic growth through fiscal policy reforms.

The President also discussed initiatives to improve the agricultural sector, enhance security measures, and address the rising cost of living. He praised governors who embraced agricultural production programs and announced plans for youth empowerment programs and a National Youth Conference to address challenges and opportunities faced by young Nigerians.

Tinubu commended the resilience and diversity of Nigerians, acknowledging the progress made since independence despite challenges. He highlighted the country’s success in realizing the dreams of its founding fathers and emphasized the ongoing efforts to build a stronger, more prosperous nation.

Additionally, Tinubu announced honors bestowed upon key government officials for their service to the nation.
