NLNG denies allegation of neglecting host community

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited has denied accusations that its Train 7 Project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contractors are neglecting Bonny Island, their host community.

A recent online report claimed that the company was not including the people of Bonny in its Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

However, the Manager of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs at NLNG, Sophia Horsfall, refuted these claims in a statement to journalists in Port Harcourt.

Horsfall clarified that two significant CSR projects, the Shell Gate-Coal Beach Road and the Bonny Vehicular Terminal, have been planned and agreed upon by all relevant stakeholders for the benefit of Bonny.

The statement labeled the report as “false and baseless”, emphasizing NLNG’s dedication to providing social investments and Nigerian content benefits to Bonny and Rivers State.

Both the Shell Gate-Coal Beach Road and the Bonny Vehicular Terminal projects have progressed positively according to schedule, with major milestones achieved and pre-construction activities completed. The projects are set for completion in 2027.
