NMA demands Kano commissioner’s sack over doctor’s assault

The Kano State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association recently issued a stern ultimatum to the Kano State Government, demanding the immediate removal of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Amina Abdullahi HOD, over an alleged assault on a female doctor. The incident, which took place at the Emergency Pediatric Unit of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, involved the doctor being harassed and assaulted by the Commissioner and her team, including security personnel. The NMA strongly condemned the abuse of power displayed by the Commissioner and emphasized the need for ethical behavior from public officials. The association called for the Commissioner’s dismissal, increased staffing, and improved security at the hospital. Failure to meet these demands within 48 hours may result in the suspension of medical services at the facility. The NMA stressed the importance of addressing challenges faced by healthcare workers to ensure the effective delivery of care in the state. They urged the Kano State Governor to promptly address these issues and collaborate with the association to implement reforms for better healthcare services.
