NNPC bought petrol from Dangote at N898 per litre – Spokesman

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has shared that it procured Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, from Dangote refinery at N898 per liter. Reports indicated that the process of lifting petrol from the refinery began recently. Approximately 300 trucks from the national oil firm were present at the refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State to collect the initial batch of petrol. The NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, clarified that the company did not buy petrol at N760 per liter as rumored. Instead, the initial price for the loaded petrol from the refinery was N898 per liter. Soneye mentioned that more than 70 trucks had been loaded from the refinery by the time of reporting. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed that NNPC would exclusively purchase refined petrol from Dangote refinery. During a meeting, it was mentioned that diesel from the refinery would be available for purchase in Naira by interested buyers, while petrol would be solely sold to NNPC for further distribution to various marketers. All necessary agreements and procedures for the sale of crude oil to local refineries in Naira and the subsequent buying of petroleum products in the same currency have been finalized.
